Taking place from October 23 to 26, the 19th edition of the National Club Managers Conference saw over 300 general managers and representatives from golf clubs around China gather at the Marriott Yalong Bay Resort, China.
Over the last two years, many golf clubs and courses in China ceased operations during a nationwide review by the government. This brought the total number of golf establishments down to 400 from 496, and a freeze in the development of new golf courses.
During the annual conference, topics on the golf climate in China was discussed moving forward from the review, including the shift from merely tending to golf courses to managing golf clubs in its totality, including maintaining service levels and efficiency.
External factors such as the future implementation of the national tax reform plan and the sustainability of golf in China, whose future is heavily influenced by the achievements of Chinese players on a global stage and participation from the younger generation of players, were also key to discussions during the conference.
Numerous awards were also presented during the course of the four-day event, such as “Best Gourmet” and “Top Golf Resorts”.
The annual event will return in 2019 with a date and location unannounced at time of publishing.
